Small and Medium Businesses Export $ 120 Million of counting equipment to Iraq

Domestic small businesses are exporting $ 100 million (about $ 120 billion) to Iraq. According to the Iraqi Embassy in Korea on Friday, MIRU Systems, an election appliance maker, recently signed a contract to supply counting equipment with the Iraqi National Election Commission. The Iraqi election committee has decided to introduce a system for counting the votes of MIRU Systems, although it has been reviewing contracts with several European and American companies in addition to MIRU Systems to automate the counting process. Iraq has a local council and regional elections this September and a parliamentary election next year. The Iraqi election commission said it will review the implementation of MIRU Systems' equipment and solutions from the local council elections in September. An official at the embassy said, "The Iraqi government hopes that the introduction of the new system will result in transparent and accurate counting." We hope that this agreement will further enhance Korea-Iraq cooperation. ”MIRU Systems officials said that the Embassy's comments could not be made at all. It is said to be due to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). MIRU Systems was established in 1999 and has been selected by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the excellent SMEs of Gyeonggi Province. The company is responsible for the maintenance of the electronic voting machine of the National Election Commission of Korea, and also supplied the ballot issuer, ballot classifier, and list terminal.
